Kata are passed on from teacher to student because they have proved to be an effective means of discovering firsthand what is beyond VERBAL or written description!!
this kind of enlignment and the sanctity  of tradition is beyond verbal descrption. Kata are designed to teach principles more than techniques. priniciples that can't be learned intellectually they must be learned by doing!!!!

friends passing on!!

I know what you are thinking! why would he put exclamation marks after a comment on a friend passing.
 The reason is that this was a celebration of my friends life. He would come back to haunt us if we didn't celebrate. This is the way my friend lived and it was the way he expected us to remember him!!!
We all congregated at a beautiful landing on Kentucky lake. His wife and children put together a wonderful occasion for the remembrance of their loved one.
 There were many that screwed up enough control over their emotions to say a few words which ranged from how our friend had inspired one person to actually HUG his dad to the  many Funny ways our friend had "entertained" us ,one and all, with life's precious gift of love and laughter.
We then proceeded to his favorite spot on the lake to spread remains. This was followed by rose petals from everyone. Then the celebration began our friend would have enjoyed because he would have been right in the middle of the whole thing!!
So i'm saying "Thanks" to my friend and to put light and love out for him!!!
